Sinha Glutathione Immunity Study: Key Findings Explained in Plain Language

Glutathione supplementation increased natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxic activity by over 400% within two weeks.

Key findings

NK cell activity increased over 400%

Natural killer cells -- the immune system's first-line defense against infected and abnormal cells -- showed a dramatic increase in cytotoxic activity. This is one of the largest immune function improvements ever documented from a single intervention.

Response was rapid (within 2 weeks)

Unlike many interventions that take months to show immune effects, the NK cell activity increase was measurable within the first two weeks of supplementation.

Lymphocyte proliferation increased 2x

Beyond NK cells, overall lymphocyte (immune cell) proliferation approximately doubled, indicating a broad immune system activation.

Dose-dependent response

Higher doses of glutathione produced greater NK cell activation, confirming a direct relationship between glutathione levels and immune function.

What this means for you

A 400%+ increase in NK cell activity is exceptional. NK cells are your immune system's surveillance team -- they detect and destroy virus-infected cells, bacteria, and abnormal cells without needing prior exposure. Stronger NK cell activity means you catch infections earlier and fight them more effectively.

Limitations

The study measured immune cell activity in vitro (in the lab) from blood samples, which may not perfectly predict in-vivo immune outcomes. The dramatic percentage increase partly reflects the low baseline NK activity in some participants. Clinical outcomes (fewer infections, faster recovery) were not directly measured.
